FAMILY ALBUM
My photographic practice involves
working on long term projects that are subject directed and essentially
documentary in nature.
‘Family Album’ is an ongoing
autobiographical piece of work that investigates familial relationships and the
home environment from a mother’s perspective.
The experience of being a wife and
mother has been transformative one involving changes to personal identity that have
left me feeling simultaneously blessed and bound, with a need to connect
completely and also a desire to escape the restrictions that family life
imposes.
Through maternal observations that weave
together family portraits, domestic details and archival material I am
attempting to build a comprehensive document that reflects the complexities of
the mothering experience.
