About Mimeses North

Mimeses North is a collective of Northern, fine art
photographers who have come together in order to enhance individual interpretations
of our relationships with the world in which we live, exploring relationships of
fellow humans, animals, interactions with our landscape, across to all things
‘other’.

Mimeses North provides mutual support and critique
along with opportunities for specific collaborations, mounting group
exhibitions on their core theme.

In an increasingly competitive art world, the
collective is a way of opening and maintaining the conversation between artists
and an art loving public. By combining insights and debate with defined
collaboration in work, Mimeses North intends that their combined output will
always add up to more than the sum of parts.

FAMILY ALBUM

My photographic practice involves working on long term projects that are subject directed and essentially documentary in nature.
‘Family Album’ is an ongoing autobiographical piece of work that investigates familial relationships and the home environment from a mother’s perspective.
The experience of being a wife and mother has been transformative one involving changes to personal identity that have left me feeling simultaneously blessed and bound, with a need to connect completely and also a desire to escape the restrictions that family life imposes.
Through maternal observations that weave together family portraits, domestic details and archival material I am attempting to build a comprehensive document that reflects the complexities of the mothering experience.
